Starting Your Own Detailing Business
Given the current economic crisis many Americans are trying to shore up their income in any way they can. For many of them, that’s meant picking up a side business to help make ends meet. One business that’s doesn’t require a lot of special skills or equipment is a mobile auto detailing company.
Getting started in the detailing business is not particularly tough. The biggest cash outlay will probably be the basic cleaning supplies that every detailer relies on like Sprayway, Lexol and Armorall. But most of these products can be purchased at big box discount retailers like CostCo and WalMart. In fact, all the mobile detailing equipment you’ll need in the beginning can be purchased for under $100.
The biggest hurdle to getting a detailing business going is simply finding the customers. In the beginning, you’ll probably want to hit up friends and family members. Another solid technique is using free posting sites like Craigslist. These sites are cost effective and frequently reach much larger audiences than traditional newspaper advertising.
Once you’ve established a few regular customers, you’ll find that word of mouth advertising is going to be your best friend.
Working one or two weekends a month as a detailer can seriously help your bottom line.
